GREENFIELDS MANOR HOUSE
OFF the well-beaten track of the N3 between Mooi River and Rosetta is a magnificent gabled building of impressive proportions with an elegant, clasical façade, oft admired by many a flyfisher visiting the area to wet a line.
The building is Greenfields Manor House, a gracious jewel of the Natal Midlands, built in 1893. From cool comfort of their deep-set verandah, it is easy to forget the pace and pressures of modern life and let your mind wander over the gardens, farm fields and distant Drakensberg — and five dams in which to flyfish.
Three of the five dams are stocked with trout while the others hold the challenge of smallmouth bass and carp.
After a long day’s fishing guests will be thrilled with the culinary delights of dinner.
Accommodation is in six luxuriously comfortable rooms, each with a private bathroom.
Other activities to be found on this working cattle and stud farm include birding, walks and tennis.
