SUNDOWNER ZAMBEZI LODGE

Sundowner Zambezi Lodge is based in Zimbabwe. Set on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River at Deka, they make full use of one of the most beautiful parts of this magnificent area. The lodge’s location is ideally situated 140km from the famous Victoria Falls and 150km from Hwange National Park.
Guests are accommodated in river-facing lodges and a thatch complex and all rooms are en-suite. Meals are prepared in a home-style Zimbabwe fashion by their experienced cook.
Relax around the swimming pool or under the raised thatched boma. The lodge offers a bar, dining room, recreational area, braai area and a stunning verandah where visitors can watch the resident hippo and fish eagles. Guests can cool off in their sparkling swimming pool.
Fishermen have access to the middle Zambezi rapid waters, which are ideal for flyfishing, but they welcome light angling as well. This Deka area is famous for tiger fishing, and also holds the world record for nkupe and chessa. With the current high-water level, the fishing is explosive in this region with a variety of freshwater sportfish to keep anglers on the edge of their seats. Over 100 varieties have been recorded. Boats are available with experienced guides who will show anglers where to fish and teach the techniques.
There are a number of beautiful walks in the area. The surrounding bush around the lodge offers four habitats, ranging from riverine forest to mopani woodlands, thus offering a diversity of fauna and flora. For the birdwatcher, there are 250 bird species, including Rock Pranpicole, Racket Pail Roller and Mottled Spine Tail.
Game drives can be arranged to the Hwange National Park.
